Frequently Asked Questions (or what I imagine MIGHT be FAQs)
(1) What does TCFKAG stand for? It stands for The Commenter Formerly Known as Guest. Its a moniker I adopted one day many moons ago on Corporette when I thought I was going to post once and be done. And then it stuck.
(2) How do you pronounce that craziness? I have no idea! Someone on Tumblr suggested Fuck Tag and I thought that sounded as good as anything else I'd heard.
(3) Why don't you name your blog something more...simple or pronounceable? Even though my moniker was chosen in a moment of weakness, its mine now. Its my precious. My precious. ARE YOU TRYING TO TAKE MY PRECIOUS?????
(4) Are you getting paid for this blog? Excellent question. I may at some point in the future figure out how to monetize this blog through click through links and/or advertisements. If I do, I'll let you know. And I won't post clothes just for revenue. My goal to "make" money is nothing more than to make some money to buy even more clothes, so trust me...this isn't a huge money making endeavor.
UPDATE: So, I've added a new "click through" revenue generating links application called "Skimlinks" that takes the links I post and turns them into revenue generating links. I do not, however, pick links I will post based on "how much revenue" it will generate. There are several reasons for this: (a) given the sheer number of items I post, that would be hard and time consuming to figure out and (b) I think it would compromise the entire effort of my blog. If you doubt my truthfulness, just consider that the majority of the jewelry I post comes from Etsy - which most definitely does not participate in any revenue generating link program. Honestly, Skimlinks will never make me rich, so I don't see why I would sell my soul or my blog's soul for it - but if you ever think I'm going cray for it - let me know. Also - it does do that thing where it randomly add links to things like "Father's Day" and I don't know how to make it not do that - so ... yeah ... sorry about that.
(5) Why did you start a new blog when you already had a Tumblr? For the same reason I started a Tumblr. Ru made me. (And ironically, she frequently tells me she hates me for its content, but only because I am tempting her into wracking up enormous credit card debt.)
(6) God that clothing item, shoe, piece of jewelry you picked is ugly. HOW could you like it? If I have learned anything from several years now of reading Corporette and other fashion blogs, it is that there *is* no one true way in fashion. No one will like everything I pick. And, spoiler alert, I don't like everything in your closet. That's okay. The world is made better by difference - that's what makes fashion fun. Just don't be mean - okay! I love my readers yo - I've never received a single comment or note like this yet. High six to all of you.
(7) This isn't fashion...this is....just clothes. Well, that's not a question. But yes, my blog will be more geared towards "professional" clothes, shoes, and jewelry because that is what I wear. Though I'm thinking about doing a "formal Friday" segment. There are lots of blogs out there about couture fashion or model fashion or whatever...but this is not that blog. This is not that day. Nope, no one's ever said this either - I must have been feeling defensive the day I made these up.
(8) [Added 9/29/13] I notice you post a lot of Etsy jewelry; how do you feel safe shopping and buying jewelry on such a wild forum? I generally have three recommendations when people are buying Etsy jewelry: (1) Buy from sellers who are based in the US or Canada [if you are based in the US or Canada] or otherwise buy from someone based near you - not only will this save on shipping, it reduces the chance that you are buying re-sold junk from F21, (2) Buy from sellers who have a significant number of positive reviews - and whose reviews are clearly written by different customers [come on, we've all read Yelp or Amazon reviews that are fake or computer generated], and (3) Buy from jewelers who are selling items at about what you think the item should actually cost. Etsy sellers have to source their beads and metals and time, just like any other business, if you think a deal is too good to be true, it probably is. However, there is *one* exception I would make to this rule. There are some sellers on Etsy who have essentially made a business of sourcing the beads and materials for popular jewelry from mass marketers [like the J-Crew bubble necklace] and re-selling the items at deep discount; these items are, essentially, the exact same. They are also much cheaper. Is the quality great? Probably not - but neither is the quality of the J-Crew bubble necklace - you should still use the first two rules (especially the second rule) to try to protect yourself and shop with a credit card with effective fraud protection if you have one. But, if you like the jewelry from J-Crew or Antro, its a great way to get it cheaper. That being said, if you are shopping for unique jewelry made by Etsy sellers, try to judge price fairly and don't look for extremely cheap items, those are far more likely to be problematic than items that seem priced "right."
OKAY! That's all the questions I can think to ask myself right now. If more questions come in - I'll address them as necessary.
Does anyone have any ACTUAL questions I could ask to FAQ's?
